Technical Advisory Services on the acquisition of 278 MW / 1,112 MWh BESS projects in Spain

Barlovento Applus+ has provided independent technical advisory services for the acquisition of the largest standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects under development in Spain, with a combined capacity of 278 MW / 1,112 MWh, located in Andalusia.

We have acted as technical advisor throughout the transaction, supporting the buyer in the acquisition of two large-scale projects: Palmosilla (Tarifa) and Cerrillo (Álora), originally developed by Rolwind.

Our scope of work included a comprehensive technical due diligence, covering project design, technology review, grid connection, environmental and permitting status, CAPEX and OPEX estimations, and FEDER grant assessment.

The projects are expected to start construction in 2027 and are designed to incorporate synchronous machines, enhancing grid stability and supporting the integration of renewable energy into the Spanish power system.

This transaction further strengthens Barlovento Applus+ and Enertis Applus+ track record in providing technical advisory services for large-scale BESS projects, supporting investors and developers in complex energy storage transactions worlwide.
