Power Curve Test at Matafongo Wind Farm, Dominican Republic

We carried out the Power Curve Test at the Matafongo wind farm in the Dominican Republic, in collaboration with our client InterEnergy.
The test was performed on the Siemens Gamesa SG 145‑5.2 MW wind turbine model, supported by the installation of a 127.5‑metre meteorological mast, enabling high‑quality wind measurements for performance assessment.
Due to the complex orography of the site, a Site Calibration (SC) was required. However, given existing logistical constraints, it was not possible to carry out a traditional measurement‑based SC. As an alternative, we implemented a Numerical Site Calibration (NSC) using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models.
This approach allowed us to obtain the wind flow correction factors without physical calibration, while simultaneously validating the CFD model using data collected during the test campaign and properly accounting for the associated uncertainties.
Through the application of innovative technical solutions, we ensured the accuracy and quality of the power curve test, even under challenging site conditions.
